REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Behavioral Health Clinician - Court Liaison with the Broward Addiction Recovery Center.

General Description

Provides counseling, screening, assessment, and intervention to individuals and families.

Works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Key Job Responsibilities Include:
* This is advanced professional work involving in depth clinical assessment of high-risk population including issues of alcohol use and/or drug use, domestic violence, sexual abuse, sexual assault, child abuse and elder abuse.
* Work involves application of a variety of advanced diagnostic and assessment techniques including individual and group methodologies and skill training within established policies and procedures.
* Employees in this class perform with some autonomy and make independent judgments within established policies and procedures.
* Work is reviewed through supervision, conferences, reports, and observation of work achievements.
* Independently performs in-custody assessments without supervisor present.
* Conducts clinical case management which includes coordinating transfers from in-custody to treatment and managing various court dockets.
* Communicates effectively and professional to Judges, attorney, court staff, petitioners, law enforcement, and clients.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires a Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social work, gerontology, psychology, or closely related field.

Requires one (1) year of social services casework, counseling or closely related field.

Depending on the area of assignment, six (6) months of clinical case management may also be required.

Special Requirements

Depending upon area of assignment, may be required to work nights/weekends/holidays.

Special Certifications and Licenses Required

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license.

Preferences

- Doctorate Degree in related field
- Licensed as a LMFT, LCSW, LMHC, and/or clinical psychologist in the State of Florida.
- Master's Certified Addiction Professional (MCAP) or Certified Addictions Professional (CAP) through the Florida Certification Board
- Experience in professional counseling.
- Experience performing as a Qualified Supervisor as approved by the Florida Department of Health (requiring periodic re-certification).
- Experience working with any of the various Courts (Drug Court, Marchman Act Court, Mental Health Court, etc.)
- Bilingual
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Conducts clinical screenings, interviews and bio-psychosocial evaluations in hospital district.

Coordinates treatment with community, governmental and service providers.

Conducts home and community visits as needed to provide substance abuse counseling to participants and their families.

Observes, evaluates, and monitors reports and records program participant status and progress.

Conducts clinical interviews and biopsychosocial evaluations.

Conducts group and individual counseling sessions.

Develops treatment plans with program participants and/or their families.

Maintains associated clinical records manually and/or electronically using computer based applications.

Prepares accurate and timely written reports on assigned caseload using computer based software applications.

Observes, evaluates, monitors, reports and records client status and progress.

Counsels program participants, including those with complex issues; facilitates intermediate and advanced group sessions concerning substance abuse and co-occurring related issues.

Provides advocacy services to clients (greets family, obtains consent for medical exam, walks client to the exam room, provides emotional support during the examination, provides counseling service referrals and any other referrals family may need).

Answers after hours calls from front desk, and from the 24-hour rape hotline.

Assists with physical abuse intakes for Crisis Protection Team.

Acts as an advocate between the families and law enforcement, state attorney's office, or child protective services to ensure that the needs and/or concerns of the client are being addressed.

Links families to different agencies within the community, such as housing assistance, childcare, and foodbanks, to assist them with various needs.

Assists clients with completing assistance applications.

Participates in staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.

Coordinates treatment with other community, governmental and service providers.

Prepares accurate and timely written reports on assigned caseload as well as the quality and/or quantity of work completed.

Confers with program participants, their families and/or other care-givers regarding issues of treatment.

Documents progress notes and tracks daily reports for documentation purposes.

Assists with special projects assigned by the supervisor.

Performs related work as assigned.

Involves routine and frequent exposure to traffic; moving machinery.
