As an Operations Manager, you'll have responsibility in managing and coordinating FAA Part 145 repair station shop floor operations in accordance with business unit objectives.
What you'll do:
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the department.
- Review and plan the use of assigned personnel to ensure an efficient organization that can meet the demands of the repair station. This would include the handling of HR related matters for the department such as overseeing of the hiring, payroll, vacation scheduling, performance evaluations, promotions, transfers and termination of assigned personnel.
- Review and plan the use of equipment and material resources to ensure adequate and efficient use of resources to meet the demands of the repair station. This would include submitting request for consumables and equipment or tooling needs.
- Oversee that all assigned personnel observe and understand all company policies and procedures. Including established systems compliance, safety practices and procedures, performance of overhaul and repair work IAW approved technical data, human resources policies, etc.
- Oversee that all maintenance or alteration processes are appropriately completed and documented on the maintenance forms as set forth in the Repair Station and Quality Manuals (RSQM).
- Oversee that all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), as assigned, are achieved.
- Oversee the timely communication of work orders that are late to scheduled need dates and provide recovery plans with estimated completion dates
- Participate and support the development of new repair offerings and standard work procedures to achieve first pass yield targets.
- Ascertain qualifications of assigned technical employees prior to work assignment through tests and evaluation of their previous experience.
- Train, assist and supervise direct reports in proper work procedures and practices.
- Manage personnel skills and qualifications to ensure cross training.
- Oversee technical personnel are appropriately trained and/or qualified to perform their job function and the appropriate technical data is available during the performance of their duties.
- Oversee that the appropriate technical data and customer requirements are available and followed by personnel during the performance of maintenance, preventive maintenance and alteration activities.
- Engage team member input to support an employee driven culture which builds employee satisfaction.
- Oversee accurate vouchering of labor hours and address variances of standard times.
- Oversee work order repair orders through Outside Service Vendors (OSV).
- Oversee the opening and secure closing of the facilities as well as effective shift turnover reporting.
- Oversee the maintenance of shop equipment and tools. Submit maintenance request, as needed.
- Oversee that required replacement parts/materials are received from Materials on time and or prioritize issuing of available to avoid delays. Submit request for purchase, as needed.
- Troubleshoot problems and work with Team to remove production Road Blocks.
- Facilitate small group problem solving activities.
- Oversee that work areas are adequately lit, ventilated and a 5s culture is implemented and maintained.
- Oversee that all personnel observe and understand all safety practices and procedures, including proper use and location of firefighting equipment.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Position Requirements:
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or - 5 years' experience in the same or similar position in an FAA regulated environment.
- Familiar with the methods, techniques, practices, aids, equipment and tools used to perform the assigned maintenance, preventive maintenance and alteration tasks (see, 14 CFR * 145.153(a))
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises technical personnel.
- Carries out Managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating performance, coaching and developing assigned personnel; planning, assigning, directing and ensuring the quality of the work performed.
Language Ability
- Understand, read and write English
- Ability to analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, drawings or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, and customers.
Math Ability
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
- Knowledge of Email, Word Processing and Spreadsheet software.
Preferred Characteristics:
- Certificated under 14 CFR part 65 (see, 14 CFR * 145.153(b)(1)
